The latest Dharma Productions movie, Kapoor & Sons is set to rock the theatres tomorrow (18th March). And here we take a look at its music. The music of the movie has an ensemble associated to it with names like Amaal Mallik, Badshah, Arko and more. Does the music pay justice to the expectations that one should have with them? Read the track wise review given under.

1. Kar Gai Chull

This peppy track by Badshah and Fazilpuria gets recreated by Amaal Mallik and we all can agree that it is a great recreation. The addition of Sukriti Kakar and Neha Kakkar is just perfect. Song is groovy and will most probably replace the original track in the party playlists. Even if you do not listen to the song, you are probably swaying your shoulders while the song plays in the background.

2. Bolna

Bringing back the rhyme schemes from Dil Toh Paagal hai’s Dholna, Bolna is definitely a soothing track and is making rounds among the young lovebirds. It is interesting to know that the composer of this song, Tanishk Bagchi has composed the superhit ‘Banno‘ from Tanu Weds Manu Returns along with Vaayu. Coming back to ‘Bolna’, its beautiful lyrics are penned by Dr. Devender Kafir and voiced by the ever-romantic voice of Arijit Singh and the textured voice of Anees Kaur. Even if you don’t like the song, the hook will hook you and you will keep singing ‘Bolna, Maahi Bolna‘ whenever you hear this song playing around.

3. Buddhu Sa Mann

The singer-composer duo of Armaan Mallick and Amaal Mallik return with this track. And it is just awesome. Cute lyrics by Abhiruchi Chand are complemented by the upbeat music but somewhere during the stanzas, the connection seems lost and only music prevails. The song is imperfect but likable. Also, not to forget the video of the song is just AWESOME. Love You Chintu Sir!

4. Saathi Rey

Extremely underrated song. This song if listened carefully is possibly the best track on the album. And we expect it to shine in the movie as a background score. The progression during the song is a marvel. Singer-Composer Arko succeeds in beautifying the already pretty awesome lyrics by Manoj Muntashir. A must listen track. Here is an excerpt from the awesome lyrics

Kehna Tha Aur Kya Kya Mujhe,
Neend Kyun Aa Gayi, Phir Tujhe?

5. Let’s Nacho

Another party song by Badshah. That sounds new, doesn’t it? Well you get our feeling don’t you? Anyways, this song features awesome music by Nucleya that overrides the likes of Badshah and Benny Dayal. This song is a complete Nucleya song if you ask us. However, this song doesn’t look like it will work anywhere other than parties and pubs. We wonder if it helps the movie audience to connect to the story. Not a great song, but perfect for parties.

Conclusion

The music of the movie definitely has a mass appeal. It has two partying songs, two slow songs including a sad one. And one peppy feel-good type song. And no other feel is captured by the track. Good for dancing, and listening in solitude. Elsewhere can be ignored.

Our favorites: ‘Saathi Rey’, ‘Bolna’.
