The Mail
Dear Future Me,
I am writing this letter in the year 2016 and expect you to read never before 2020. Between me writing this letter and you reading it, a lot would have changed. But this letter should contain its value nonethless.
Today, You are deciding to step out of your comfort. You are setting yourself free of all the chains of world and tying yourself with your own expectations. Now, it is solely your responsibility to break these chains and replace them with newer and stronger chains than before everytime.
Today, you are heading against all your well wishers, not to prove anything to them, but to prove yourself, that what you planned for yourself is the only thing that can give you maximum satisfaction. Keep this in mind that you are not doing this for anyone else, and just yourself.
Keep this in mind that while taking the first step, you declared that you don’t want to blame anyone for any of your future results. You proudly said that even if you fall, you want it to be because of your own stumble. You yourself have commanded that you would prefer a self fabricated slipper over a borrowed or gifted shoe. That you want to have your own footprints and do not want to follow anyone else. Always, Remember that.
Also, it needs to be formally announced that you have made a few promises to yourslef, proclaiming that you strive to be successful but within the constraints that you have decided. Let me re-state those promises, those constraints for you, in case you have forgotten:
- No Loans
You can not take any loan under your name. You have to earn anything to spend it.- No Favors
You must not take any undue favors from anyone. They are worse than loans. Moral pressures are no less than coercing you to go against yourself.- Perpetuality
That you won’t stop. Not even for a year, a month, a week, a day or a minute. You must always have in mind what the next step of your journey is.- Dream
Never forget to dream. That is the first thing that encouraged you to step ahead. You cannot leave the habit of it.- Goals
You have set a few goals for yourslef including the milestones of your career and your dream house, where you will live with your partner and both of your families. Do not ever forget these goals.Do not consider this as just another letter that you wrote or received. Consider it a promise to yourself that you have to fulfill no matter what. Consider it a scale to measure your success. Consider it a message that life has catered you signalling you to stay to the roots. Consider it as you yourself. Because the way you read this letter in future, will define what you are.
