About Arre Baba
Arre Baba is a 5:30-minute Marathi short movie written and directed by Surya Balakrishnan and released by Terribly Tiny Talkies(TTT) on their official YouTube channel. The film features Girish Kulkarni and Gauri Deshpande in the central roles.
Story
The movie starts when little Devika(Gauri) is sitting outside her school waiting for her father(Girish). The father arrives and they start walking home. Devika seems upset at something, and the father tries to know what. Devika feels awkward at telling her father what her problem is, as she is afraid he won’t understand.
Why to Watch?
Well, there are many factors which made us watch this movie. The foremost of them being that it is a movie presented by TTT which is known to bring few but powerful short films on their channel. Apart from that, it features Girish Kulkarni who is pretty famous among Hindi movie lovers as the police inspector from Anurag Kashyap’s Ugly.
That was the stuff that is visible before we watch the movie. Speaking about the movie, it is shot in a single take. Right from the beginning to the end. Even if there is not any extraordinary action going on, the single take holds the attention of the viewers and never do we feel to move our eyes away.
The conversation between father and the daughter is brilliant and not often do we see such conversations in short movies. Even if the dialogues were in Marathi, the subtitles and the expressions of the actors make every emotion understandable.
