BAAGHI Trailer Review: Thrilling Action with Not So Compelling PlotLine

The Director of Kambakkht Ishq and Heropanti is back with another action-drama movie starring Tiger Shroff alongside Shraddha Kapoor. And this time, they are both being a rebel. The Baaghi Trailer released yesterday and has collected a million views before it completes 24 hours. Is the trailer good enough? Is it engaging enough to convince the audience to buy the tickets? Here we take a look at the same.

About Baaghi

Baaghi is the action-drama movie directed by Sabbir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. It features the ‘Heropanti’ Star Tiger Shroff and ‘Aashiqui 2’ fame Shraddha Kapoor in prominent roles. The movie is set to release on 29th April 2016.

From what the description says, we get that Baaghi is the story revolving around Ronny(Tiger), a guy from Delhi in his early 20s who is sent to a town in Kerala to learn Discipline(but of course, he is a rebel and he won’t pay attention) and some form of martial art. There he meets Siya (Shraddha) and falls in love with her. Also, at the academy, there is another guy Raghav, who also loves Siya. Siya is abducted by Raghav and Ronny decides to rescue her. And for this, he will seek the help of the master at the academy and be stronger through rigorous training.

Baaghi Trailer Analysis

The trailer looks complete showcase for Tiger Shroff where the frames are dedicated to showing off his bulging biceps in closeup, the top angle slo-mo shot of him kicking bad guy’s face and much more. Also, there are a lot of action movie clichés like the following

  • Bad guy is rich and powerful
  • Hero goes through rigorous training to equal Bad Guy
  • Hero getting shot and falling off the cliff while heroine cries in vain.
  • Hero ripping off his vest/shirt
  • and much more…

But keeping them apart, there are few beautiful frames of Kerala‘s natural beauty, and some refreshing action scenes shot with utter brilliance, that make the trailer exciting. Although Shraddha Kapoor starts off the trailer, there is not much screen presence for her otherwise. The story line looks nowhere unique but the treatment is what should be watchable.

Have a look at the trailer.

Best Moments from Trailer

As we mentioned, there are a lot of beautiful frames in the trailer of the movie, but what we thought were the best moments are these two sequences:

  • Shraddha banging a bad guy’s head repeatedly to the wall and photo frames.

  • Tiger kicking a bad guy to break his feet.
Tiger Shroff in Action – Baaghi Trailer

The trailer is definite thrilling in terms of action, however, we must not say the same about the story. As stated above, it would still be interesting to see how Sabbir treats the not-so-extraordinary story. Also, it would be good if the movie has more humour proportions as compared to the trailer.
